Shepard Fairey

Shepard Fairey, a prominent figure in the contemporary street art movement, gained recognition in the early 1990s through his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” initiative, which involved the distribution of posters, stickers, and murals depicting the famous wrestler throughout Providence, Rhode Island. His renowned “Hope” campaign poster for President Barack Obama, created in 2008, reflects several of the artist's persistent themes, such as propaganda, portraiture, and the dynamics of political power. Fairey's artwork, which has achieved auction prices in the six-figure range, is included in the collections of prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
