Felipe Pantone (Argentinian 1986-), 'Optichromie 59', 2016, unique enamel on wood, signed and dated in black ink verso; 50 x 50cm
Auction: Urban & Contemporary Art, 18th Sep, 2025
Felipe Pantone revitalizes Op art through his paintings and sculptures by using 3D modeling software to capture the glitches and grids of the digital realm. Inspired by Victor Vasarely and Carlos Diez-Cruz, he employs vibrant colors and a mathematical approach to create optical illusions. Merging colorful, digitized shapes with graffiti-like strokes, Pantone critiques our reliance on the digital while bridging analog and digital art. Based in Valencia, where he studied fine art, his work has been exhibited in major cities worldwide, and he has created numerous murals, including a notable 17-story façade in Lisbon in 2017.
