KYNE is celebrated for his distinctive themes, featuring stylish, sable-haired women illustrated in monochrome silkscreen prints. In 2019, he teamed up with Takashi Murakami to produce prints that merge KYNE’s atmospheric portraits with Murakami’s colorful graphics. Their collaboration is rooted in their mutual background in nihonga painting, which KYNE studied at university and continues to shape his artistic style, influenced by Showa-era manga and 1980s Japanese pop culture. Under his alias, KYNE initially rose to prominence in Fukuoka, disseminating images of his signature subjects through stickers and graffiti. Since 2016, he has been co-managing On Air, a studio, gallery, and radio show located in Fukuoka.
