Gerhard Richter

Gerhard Richter is a prominent post-war German artist known for his diverse and influential painting practice. His work explores the relationship between photography and painting, featuring both figurative pieces from found images and abstract works that reflect photographic effects. Richter often works on a large scale and has created glass panels and stained glass windows, with layering and erasure central to his approach. Educated at the Kunstakademie in Dresden and Düsseldorf, his exhibitions are held worldwide, including at the Museum Barberini, Serpentine Galleries, Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of Chicago, and Tate Modern. His artworks have sold for tens of millions in the secondary market.
