Auction: Tate Ward @ Artsy - By Collectors For Collectors, ending 12th Feb, 2026
Robert Nava creates simple, captivating figures that form a unique visual style influenced by mythology. Originally from Indiana and now in Brooklyn, he uses spray paint, acrylics, and grease pencil to depict both real and imaginary creatures like sharks, angels, and clowns. Nava, who earned a Yale MFA in painting in 2011, has showcased his work in solo exhibitions in New York, Brussels, Los Angeles, and Copenhagen. His art is also part of the Art Institute of Chicago's permanent collection. The intentional chaos and simplicity of Nava's art connect it to famous traditions, from ancient cave paintings to the dynamic works of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
