Instagram star Lucy Sparrow is famous for her vibrant, life-sized felt and wool replicas of everyday retail items. While best known for her freestanding sculptures, she also creates wall arrangements of felt objects in grid patterns. Her Pop art-inspired soft sculptures, reminiscent of Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg, are sold individually but were first showcased in immersive settings. Sparrow gained fame in 2014 with The Cornershop, an East London installation featuring nearly 400 felt works resembling a convenience store. In 2017, she created 8 ’Til Late at The Standard, High Line hotel in NYC, a replica of a corner bodega that sold out its 9,000 pieces in just over a week. Collaborating with a team, Sparrow hand-stuffs, sews, and stitches each item, exploring themes of mass consumerism, convenience, and craftsmanship.
