Annina Vogel’s love of heirlooms and charms is inherited from her mother, an antiques jewellery dealer, who inspired Vogel to start her own business.
Vogel’s designs take old pieces and reimagine them, giving once forgotten charms a new lease of life. Firmly ensconced in London’s ‘it crowd’, Annina Vogel’s jewellery has been worn celebrities such as Kate Moss and Kate Beckinsale. The whimsical pieces are heavily influenced by the Victorians, who she describes as being the ultimate combination of exceptional craftsmanship and clever symbolism. A brand which owes its existence to Vogel’s childhood love of a vintage gold Dachshund charm, Annina’s pieces are unabashedly sentimental. Nevertheless, Vogel takes Victorian romanticism and reworks it into contemporary hand-made designs that are more rock and roll than Victorian tea party. It is safe to say, given that the designer admits to buying and selling her first diamond ring at the age of eleven, that Annina Vogel has a steely centre to her nostalgic exterior. Featured everywhere from Vogue to the Financial Times, Vogel’s brand has gone from strength to strength. It is the steady inventiveness of Vogel’s collaborations with artists such as Alice Shirley that means that no collection, or indeed design, is ever boring.
