A quick scroll through Instagram and you'll notice that signet rings are everywhere. With collaborations between influencers and designers, gold, silver, gem-set and of course, beautifully crafted antique rings steeped in history, there’s no shortage of options on the market right now.
Historically known as the ‘gentleman’s ring’, signets have been spotted on some very fashionable females; Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart. What is fuelling the revival of the signet ring? It seems to be part of a shift in the mind-set of jewellery lovers to pieces that are more permanent and timeless, with sustainable and conscious purchasing being a hot topic.
Signet rings are a classic piece of jewellery for both men and women. They were once used as a stamp of sorts to sign letters (when people used to send them!), designed with a family crest, signature or monogrammed initials. Now, long since the Medieval times when this ring style was first designed, signet rings are worn more for their design than anything else.
Signet rings are simple to style, whether you go old school and wear it on your little finger, modernise it with a bigger style on your index, or stack them with some diamonds, it’s a simple trend and playful way to incorporate into your wardrobe this summer.
